Kaine in Norfolk today

Governor Tim Kaine will be at Virginia Wesleyan College this evening for one of his stops on his Town Hall tour. The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Dining Center (1584 Wesleyan Dr.). This is your opportunity to ask questions of the Governor about the budget and legislation that passed (or didn’t pass) the recently completed General Assembly session. According to the press release, accompanying the Governor will be staff from the Unclaimed Property Division of the Virginia Department of Treasury.

Norfolk backs off smoking ban

I feel sorry for Dr. Theresa Whibley - I really do. Even though I don’t agree with her stance on the smoking ban, you have to give her props for having worked tirelessly for it. No doubt she feels abandoned at this point. The Virginian Pilot reports that the Norfolk Council is backing off implementing the ban.

“A majority of council now opposes it,” Council member Theresa Whibley said of
the ban passed five months ago.

This comes after Norfolk boldly said its charter allowed such a ban. Seems that Norfolk really doesn’t want to put that to a test. And, in the end, Norfolk doesn’t want to go it alone.
I still don’t think we need a smoking ban. If restaurants want to go smoke free, there is nothing stopping them. And if the people want smoke-free restaurants, they will stop going to places that allow it

American Idol Results 03/19/08: The top 10

As expected, Wednesday night’s show was BORING. Simon said they made a mistake by doing the Beatles two weeks in a row. Well, duh! The Beatles may have been a great band 40 years ago but I suspect even Beatles fans thought their music was butchered last night. None of the contestants showed me a thing. It was a race to the bottom.
First named to the top 10 was Miss Sunshine, Brooke. Surprisingly, Carly, probably the second-best voice left in the competition, was the first named to the bottom three. Wonderkid David Archuleta was next to be added to the top 10, with rocker wannabe Michael right behind him.
Rocker David Cook was the fourth addition to the top 10. Country singer Kristy Lee , as expected, the second member of the bottom three. Jason, he of the strange facial expressions, made it into the top 10 as did my favorite, Ramiele.
Last week, they introduced this little interactive session where they take live calls from viewers. Sorry - that’s not why I watch Idol. What a waste of time!
Season 5 contestant Kellie Pickler performed her single, Red High Heels. I liked her better when she was just a country girl from North Carolina. This coiffed Kellie isn’t nearly as much fun to watch.
The last group of three consisted of rocker girl Amanda, crooner-or-country-singer Chikezie, and Whitney wannabe Syesha. Amanda made it an all-female bottom three.
Despite the efforts of Vote for the Worst, Amanda was voted off. I happen to disagree with America on this. Amanda has real talent and I doubt we’ve heard the last of her.

Feeling Better, Gunna Get Blogging Some More!

I still have chicken pox, but the fevers have passed so I’ll be able to stare at the screen for long periods without passing out.
Hmmm, well anyway, about the picture attached to the thread, I just found it while I was watching episode 6 or 7 or Shana II. I was like Wow. Meganekko + Tsundere, the best…
Anyway, Manga spoilers/raws should be coming out tomorrow, you’ll find the updates here. Also I’ll get to review the next Spice and Wolf episode as well as the one I missed soon.
